Attending on both the small screen and on stage for more than 10 years, Virgil Iantu will appear in front of the public as musician, delighting the audience with an exciting recital. The Bucharest Jazz Orchestra complements harmoniously the artist, reviving Romanian antique pieces, through a mixture of rhythms of swing, jazz, soul and big band.
George Natsis’s approach, the orchestra coordinator, on the repertoire is extraordinary and the public participating to these performances became more numerous, attracted by a harmonious combination of exciting styles. Parts of Nicu Alifantis or Simple band are cleverly rearranged, so the audience is invited to participate in a journey through time and space.
"We started with the past and we get to present days. The rearrangements and interpretation have, in my view, fun, and my wish is to enjoy the Romanian pieces appeared in different periods, that we love, but perhaps we miss them lately.", says the artist.
Founded in 2012, Bucharest Jazz Orchestra, led by trumpeter Sebastian Burneci is an independent set of jazz that includes several top musicians (from Romania, Italy and Moldova): Paolo Profeti (saxophone), Cristi Lăbuș (bass trombone), Silviu Groaza (trumpet), Florian Radu (trombone), Adi Cojocaru (trombone).
The Rhythm section is headed by Johnny Bica (piano) and has multiple components, the base being formed from Michael Acker (bass) and Tavi Scurtu (drums). With a unique style and original music, the group noted some special musical collaborations: with soloists such as Virgil Iantu or bands like Urban Artistic Brigade or Vunk.
The first album of the orchestra is called Stories from Bucharest and bear footprints of each member of the group since it offers a slice of life from this city.
Virgil Iantu & Bucharest Jazz Orchestra will be on stage at Berăria H on January 14 from 22:15. It announces to be a true audiophile experience and promises a different show.
