Paul Anka, one of the most charming artists of all time, returns to Bucharest to a concert together with his Big Band on 30 January 2016 at the Palace Hall, Bucharest, in a night full of nostalgia and magic.
Born on July 30 1941 in a family of Canadians, Paul Anka did not lose too much time to start his life in music. He sang in the church choir, studied piano from young age and has developed the art of writing as a journalist attending to courses. In 1956 he persuades his parents to let him move to Los Angeles, where he tries to get access to record companies for a meeting. In 1957 he manages to meet with Don Costa (A & R at ABC-Paramount Records) to whom he shows a sketch of his immediately famous single Diana and thus achieve international success. Paul Anka is known between 1950-1970 with hits like Diana, Lonely boy, Put your head on my shoulder and You’re having my baby…
The artist becomes famous not only for the parts he sang, but also for songs he wrote for Tom Jones (She's a lady), the famous evergreen of Frank Sinatra (My Way), but also for I Never Heard (This is it 2009) and Love never felt so good of Michael Jackson! Another strong point in his career is his Oscar nomination for writing the music for the the autobiographical film - Longest Day 1964.
In 2005 launches his most spectacular rock album covers reinterpreted in style of swing jazz, Rock Swings - album which brings him back to the public attention and even reaches new audiences… young, hungry for music exposed in this way.
Although he already came to Bucharest, Paul Anka is extremely excited to return with his big band and they expressed their desire to make the Palace Hall, an spectacular evening, more special than the others so far.
