Profitable businesses always have an interesting story behind them. This is mainly due to the fact that the road to success is never an easy one. Prospero is no exception to this rule, being a business that hides more than 25 years of history, even though its local fame does not exceed 10 years.
Started as a family business, Prospero produced its bread for 17 years in a traditional oven built in 1991 in the courtyard of its owners. The beginnings were not easy, especially in the fluctuated economy of 1990s Romania. The bread was delivered with the help of a Dacian and the two spouses that owned Prospero were omnipresent in the production and distribution process.
It was only in 2008 that Prospero has made the crucial step forward, turning from a bakery into a true bread factory. At this point, the company was well-known on the bakery segment, its products being already present on store shelves. Still, another step had to be taken. Thus, in just one year, the first Prospero café appeared and with it came the diversification of the company's offer, which started to produce pastries. The decision was extremely profitable, the company growing steadily with the emergence of this first coffee shop. Basically, with this new segment added to the company’s product suite. Prospero appeared on Timișoara’s outing destinations, many people becoming familiar with the company’s bread and products and through these cafes.
From here, things went from good to better, the once small family business producing nowadays around 8000 breads per day, distributed in its 15 stores from the city, but also in the five cafes that it currently owns in Timișoara. If we remember that the business is now worth about five million euros, we probably do not have to add anything except that, through perseverance, adaptability and perhaps with luck, we can develop successful business in Romania. Prospero is the living proof of this.
