Places to visit in Mamaia - the most posh beach resort in Romania

Mamaia is the most luxurious and beautiful resort at the Romanian seaside. It is located in the north of the city of Constanţa, of which it is a part. It has few permanent residents, but during the summer it is the most crowded resort. The beach is very long and very wide (250 m) and the sand is extremely soft. There are also many things to do here, besides working on your tan, of course.

A fun place to spend a warm evening is Luna Park. It is an amusement park located in the so-called Holiday Village, in the south of Mamaia. The carousel, the trains, the roller-coaster are all great sources of fun and adrenaline both for the little ones and the grown-ups. The wheel is also a fun thing to try, especially as it will give you a wonderful panorama of Mamaia and Constanţa.

There are other things to do in the Holiday Village. There are many restaurants that serve traditional Romanian foods, specific to certain parts of the country. You can also go shopping for clothes or souvenires as there are many stores in the area.

Another place that is one of the tourists’ favourite is the aqua park called Aqua Magic. It was the first aqua park in Romania when it was built in 2003. It has many water slides, pools, multislides and pipes that will give you a rush like never before. The slides start from 8 m in height and can reach 11.4 m.

There are also pools for children, where the water is not so deep and where they can splash about however much they want. There are many bars and restaurants which serve traditional Romanian food and an aquatic bar, where you can order your drink straight from the pool. Aqua Magic Shop is also worth visiting if you want a special bathing suit. The models range from trendy to classical and the prices are not very high.

Another favourite attraction among tourists is the Gondola. It is unusual to have a gondola in a seaside resort but not unmotivated. The view of the resort, from 50 m high will take your breath away. The trip lasts 8 minutes and you can embark on it from two stations: one near Perla Mamaia and the other near Casino Mamaia. The ride is also very safe as the equipment is state-of-the-art and meets all the European standards.
