The tallest skyscrapers in Bucharest

Being an over-crowded city, Bucharest has opened the way for the construction of skyscrapers which denote prosperity, opulence, and economic prosperity.

From the earliest times man wanted to touch the sky with its construction. The ancient Egyptians built pyramids, in the Middle Ages we have grandiose cathedrals with towers, and in the twentieth century, in the context of the urbanization process skyscrapers began to appear around the world.

A metropolis with such fascinating building denotes welfare, opulence, economic prosperity. Nowadays many countries boast buildings that are over 100 meters high and some cities began to look as if they came from the future.

In recent years gigantic glass and steel constructions with a fabulous modern architecture became a reality in Bucharest. Thus the real estate market in the capital city has developed the highest and the most spectacular constructions in the country, mostly office buildings.

The tallest building in our metropolis is Floreasca Sky Tower, opened in 2012 and which can be seen from many areas in the city. The construction is 137 meters high, it has 36 floors and it is located in Floreasca. From the top floor you can admire Bucharest in all directions and the important points in the capital city. The building is a typical American skyscraper and on floors 35 and 36 it has a panoramic SkyBar and a conference center for a unique experience. The glass facade and the permanent climate control allow natural light into the office space but no heat or UV rays. Also, the building has high-speed elevators and 500 parking spaces.

The second-highest building in the capital is the Bucharest Tower Center near Victory Square. It is intended for office spaces and it has a height of 120 meters and 22 floors. This is followed by The House of the Free Press, also called Casa Scînteii with a height of 105 meters. The building was the tallest in Bucharest between 1956 and 2007 and it was intended to house the Bucharest's printing presses, the newsrooms and their staff.

Among the highest and the most spectacular buildings in the capital city we have the Basarab Tower (an elevator testing building of 114 meters high), Asmita Gardens residential complex (the highest tower with 25 floors and 92 meters), BRD Tower (19 floors and 87 meters), the Palace of Parliament also known as the House of the People (12 floors and 87 meters), Bucharest Financial Plaza (18 floors and 83 meters), Charles de Gaulle Plaza (16 floors and 80 meters), Euro Tower (18 floors and 80 meters) Intercontinental Hotel (22 floors and 77 meters), Monaco Towers residential complex (20 floors and 77 meters), City Gate (18 floors and 75 meters), Millennium Business Center (18 floors and 72 meters), Crystal Tower (15 floors and 72 meters) Premium Plaza (15 floors and 64 meters), the Telephone Palace and the Oracle Tower.

In Bucharest the urban space is continuously increasing, resulting in the development of so-called vertical buildings. Being an over-crowded city, the capital city paved the way for the construction of skyscrapers. In recent years Bucharest has developed numerous real estate projects and many tall office buildings emerged.
